Allergy/ food Testing
Allergy testing is performed to find out exactly what is causing your symptoms. If you are allergic, then you are reacting to a particular substance called Allergen. These tests are to identify these allergens. Routinely you will be tested for important airborne or environmental allergens and possibly some foods as well. These usually include grass, trees, weeds, molds, dust mites, and pet dander.

Intradermal Testing:
Allergens that react negatively to the prick test will be retested by an intradermal method to look for a possible allergy not detected by the prick test. This test involves injecting a very small amount of the allergen under the skin on the arm. Intradermal testing is not done for food allergy.
The testing generally takes about one hour. If you have a specific allergic sensitivity to any of these allergens, a red raised itchy hive will appear on your skin within 15-20 minutes.
